Mid-Month Release!!

Tomorrow evening, Sunday August 15th at 8:00 pm central. . .

This mid-month I have decided to retire a few of my classes and will be offering several of the class kits for sale. Each kit includes printed instructions and a color copy of the project (instructions will not be available on the site). See these below, but first. . .

Re-stocks: Vintage Folding Rulers and Glove Molds (this is the last of the glove molds - yep, I said that last time, but this time I really mean it. Ha!). I am also loading a new product, Random JBS Chipboard Pieces. This will be a package of 8 random retired JBS Chipboard pieces including pinked frame, odd flower sizes, arrows, swirls, etc. I forgot to take the photo but you can see it tomorrow night! This is the last of these chipboard shapes. If you order multiple bags we will try to make sure you have different pieces from bag to bag.

2009 Year In Review Class Kit -you could easily make this into any year by covering the 2009 with a label sticker. This was a favorite class of mine. . .

Vintage Shabby Collage Frame Class Kit - this was one of my longest running and most popular classes. It is a great gift idea!

Round and Round Layout Class - 4 12 x 12 layouts with product to spare in the end. . .

Vintage Skeleton Key Mini Book Class Kit - this is a fun, fun project if you like little things! I plan to try and keep this kit in stock as I find keys. It is one of my favorites . . .

See you tomorrow night!!

127 Sale

Although I have been back for4 days now I think it took me that long to recover from heat exhaustion after shopping in 100 degree plus indexes for 4 days! That didn't keep me however, (or thousands of my new best friends) from beating the path down US Route 127 last week on the hunt for hidden treasures. I started last Wednesday in Russell Springs, KY and almost made it to Pikeville, TN by Saturday. I was driving an hour and half to and from each day typically. I kept packing a bag thinking I would grab a hotel room but I was always out of room in my car and yearning for my own bed by the end of the day. We are setting up at the Country Living Fair in Atlanta (more on that in a future blog post) in October so I meant serious business! Here are a few photos I managed to take (not as much as I wanted). . .

(I really wanted this cabinet, but alas, no room in the Honda Pilot - should have brought the truck)!
(this photo is for the American Pickers, just in case they are watching (Frank, are you there??)
As soon as I get unpacked I will take some photos of some of my finds. I got lots of stuff for future kits and for the Vintage Finds section of the website.

Check back here Saturday for some previews of the mid-month release at the site on Sunday including kits from 4 of my retired classes from this year (and some restocks).
Happy Thursday!!

Save the Date!!! (and for the love of feedsacks. . .)

Mark it on your calendars!! The third annual JBS Holiday Vintagefest will be held Friday and Saturday December 3rd and 4th here in Nashville. All of the exciting details will follow in a couple of weeks including registration information. I will keep you posted.

I purchased some AWESOME antique tin ceiling tiles last weekend with green chippy paint for one of the projects. So many ideas, so little time! For those hearing about this for the first time, Vintagefest is a small event we put on locally, twice a year, that involves some sort of treasure hunting excursion as well as a full day of 3 workshops taught by me. We try to keep it affordable and fun!

My husband's wonderful Uncle sent over several feedsacks for me, I believe at the urging of his sister who assured him they were something I would love! They had been in storage for years at the home place, washed and put away likely by Jared's grandmother. I have been collecting feedsacks for years. The typography and graphics get me every time. I have used them to cover chairs and make pillows, with many just sitting and waiting for other creative opportunities (Journal covers are coming soon)! I thought it would be fun to share a few photos!

These are the ones Uncle Jim sent - there were 5 total with a pale yellow background! I send 4 of them back with my MIL to make me pillows for our bedroom for Christmas. . .

This one sits on Christian's bed. . . His room is full of old tins and feed store signs (still to be hung of course. . .)

Still Christian's room. . .

Noah's bed - these are concrete bags actually. . .

Hoping to find more on my journey along the 127 sale this weekend! I am uploading my flip videos today to clear them off and make room to video my new adventure!

August Kits- tonight!!

Here are some sneaks of this month's kits, on sale tonight at midnight! Although I am upping our numbers beginning in September, it was too late for these kits, so if you see something you like, act fast! All three kits sold out the first day last month.

The Papercrafting Kit this month has some creamy blues and warm greens, with just a touch of red and yellow. I am sharing some of my old general store price cards in this kit - so many options for using these (you will love what the design team has done)!

(layout by Doris)

Although I would love to include an old slate with each Project Kit, this one is just for showing off the 5 XL bottle cap collages that you can add magnets too or simply add to a canvas (or slate!) with double sided tape for display. . .

As always, alot of vintage has showed up in this month's Add-On Kit including an old linen postcard (old store stock-they are all as shown), a vintage check, vintage buttons, vintage seam binding, these great "Golden Rule" milk caps and AWESOME vintage French seed labels . . .

You may notice some new categories in the shop and other "partly" finished things scattered around the site. We are working on some exciting new features and will have more information to post mid-month.

So fun seeing many of you at CHA!

I am headed out later this week to shop the 127 sale and have plans to take pics and possibly a little video for you! I will try to share while on the road, but at least check back for a post next weekend to see what I found!
Happy Saturday!

Texas. . .

Thanks to Crop Paper Scissors in Waco (special thanks to Emmalie!) for hosting me this past weekend. I enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to come back someday soon! We decided to make a mini vacation out of it and ate here on Friday night (Papa Rollos I believe). . .

Spent some time in Austin and then went on to New Braunfels to the water park and found this quaint little town (Gruene) where I took this photo. . .

and browsed here. . .

I only had a minute to run through this one, but I actually brought back tons of stuff from an antique mall in Austin and one in New Braunfels. It was a very nice trip but back to reality today. . .

Check out my post yesterday to see my exciting "Ella" announcement, and please help me honor my fellow nominees by visiting their blogs throughout the week. You could win one of 100 cool prizes! Click below to say hello to today’s spotlighted bloggers.

Mid-month, Mid-month!

We have 4 lovely items for you this month, waiting for their turn at a good home tomorrow morning, Thursday July 15th at 10:00am central. . .

First off we have this way cool, vintage inspired Travel Card Collage Kit featuring two of my favorite linen postcards I happened to find in bulk and several cards from early "Touring" games mixed with classic JBS products and German foil and findings. All held together with a vintage brass tie clip.

A peek below at one side of the various cards. . .
I also came across these amazing "Poetical Works" booklets that are a huge 10 x 12 size, each with approx. 20 pages or more. They have the most beautiful Robin's Egg Blue covers and backs that would be perfect for a special project (they are very brittle and have many tears and rips, so you can feel less guilty about cutting them up). The insides are actually in near perfect condition however. . .
Thirdly, we have my favorite tiny tins. I have used these to store little photo cards but I think they would make FABULOUS mini displays turned on end and opened. Even just a simple photo frame would be cool. . .
And finally, we have these lovely leather Tiny Classics. They are about 2 x 2 3/4" in size. The tiny text is great for projects but if you don't have the heart, they make for lovely inspiration just sitting on your desk (and you'll look so smart)!

See you tomorrow!

And if your coming to Waco, I will see you there!!

The Peeks are starting!

Doris has started preview week over at the Inspiration Blog. See the full Family Tree Line there and stay tuned here for mid-month Mercantile release information (coming on Thursday, the 15th)!!

Life is about the busiest it can be right now. Hoping to show some more rooms in the house soon as well some new photos of Scarlett (my how she is growing)! They were not able to fix my external drive and I have been mourning lost photos almost every day. Trying to make up for it by picking up the camera more than I have in a while. Still so heartbroken but trying to move on. . .

Happy Monday!

Upcoming Events . . .

Just a real quick reminder about some upcoming events I will be teaching at . . .

Next weekend, the 16th and the 17th of July I will be in Waco, TX at Crop-Paper-Scissors teaching 3 classes (click the link here or over to the left for photos and to contact the store).

The first weekend in August I will be in Charleston, S.C. at the Croptopia event teaching 3 workshops as well (click the link here or over to the left for photos and to contact the event coordinator).

I also noticed this post over at the Creative Connection (where I will be in September) about a really cool "Virtual Lab" in conjunction with Etsy that you may enjoy being a part of tomorrow, Wednesday July 7th. If you ever dreamed of having a book published, this may be a great starting point!

Thanks so much to everyone for their well-wishes (here and elsewhere!) on my Ranger partnership. I hadn't mentioned that I have known Tim for longer than almost anyone else in this industry and to have a chance to work with him this closely is a thrill. I adore him. This is very exciting for me on so many levels. Thanks for sharing it with me!!

Inks, Pads and Daubers, Oh My!!

Yep - this was my big secret! Announcing Jenni Bowlin for Ranger Stamp Pads, Paint Daubers and Re-Inkers (which means mists ya know, but more on that later)!

The official press release (and a peek at the final packaging - above are just samples) can be found here at the Ranger site.

There will be 12 colors of each product debuting at CHA later this month, shipping in August.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be working with this company. They are the best at what they do and these products open up new creative possibilities for the entire JBS line (not to mention matching our products perfectly).

I can't wait to share some of the projects and techniques I have been working on! So much more to come!

Happy 4th!!

A bit of a diversion. . .
We just got back into town after more than a week visiting family in Maryland. The primary reason was for this adorable girl's sweet 16 party. . .

my niece, Laurel. So excited that she is going to be coming to visit me in just two weeks.

And we found some time to escape for the day to the beach and ended up walking the boardwalk that night in Ocean City where I took loads of photos of all the things I remembered from my childhood vacations (and had a Dumsters Italian Ice)!

I also got to squeeze this beautiful baby girl (and take her pictures) for a family friend. . .

There was also another reason why I was up that way (well a little further north)! I know I keep teasing you but I promise the announcement is coming this week!

New kits and goodies coming Wednesday night so check back then!!
