Vintage valentines come in all shapes and sizes and have a long history in both Europe and America. One interesting type of vintage valentine is the mechanical valentine, a paper valentine made with moving parts. Movement in these little works of art were created with small grommets, paper wheels, and strings.
A few years ago, Martha Stewart had paper engineer Robert Sabuda on her show where he showed and demonstrated a lovely collection of mechanical valentines. If you love Valentines or paper arts, this video is definitely worth a watch:
