Introducing . . . and a giveaway!

UPDATED!! - Congratulations LCSmithSAVED - you are the winner of the first ever Magpie Box!  Please email us at jennibowlin@gmail.com sometime this week so we can get all of your information.

And Louise asked a good question that I will cover in the next newsletter again as well, but if you have a current subscription to the Papercrafting Kit it is no longer since that kit has been cancelled.  If you would like the Magpie Box subscription you will need to purchase it using the membership button beginning on the 1st.  Once you have done that you will be set until you decide to cancel.

And also. . . we are feverishly working on the changes to the menus at the site and they won't be ready until the 1st.  If you happen to be looking around over there before the first, you will not see any of the changes quite yet!  But it may be worth taking a look NOW since all of the JBS products and past kits are at a deep discount until the 31st and won't be available at the site after that (just a few JBS products will remain for sale in our General Store).

The Magpie Box – goods and curiosities for the maker, stylist and collector.

Each month you will receive a box filled with expertly curated found, handmade, quality imported and exclusively designed items - all carefully nested into a Kraft box and delivered to your doorstep each month.

As I planned and pondered what I wanted to do next, I really looked deeply at the things that I loved . . . and why.  After one particular conversation this fall with my like-minded friend Kathe, I realized that perhaps there were other people out there like me - people who just simply loved to collect and often purchased items only to start one or to add to one.  As a "maker" I of course often re-purpose items in my work, but it seems as though I have to live with, display and simply "collect" those items before I do so.  As a "stylist", whether for business or in my home, I often end up also using items to create vignettes, changing on a whim whether with the seasons or my interests.  The Magpie Box is the perfect compilation of all of these parts of my personality and interests.  I'm hoping maybe for a few of you it will strike a cord as well!

And why "Magpie" might you ask?  If you know anything about birds you may then know that the Magpie is a collector, gathering anything and everything (particularly shiny objects) to build it's nest.  Nothing seemed more appropriate (and the Kraft paper "nest" that will hold the treasures each month just adds to the theme).

So here's how it works.  Simply purchase the January Magpie Box on the 1st as either a membership or a one-time-purchase.  The cost each month will be $25.  If you choose to start a membership you will automatically be billed on the 5th of each month.  No required length of membership.  Cancel anytime.  It's simply a way to save you time AND to guarantee a box.  Because of the found nature of these collections, quantities will be limited each month.

So without further adieu, below is a sneak peek at the first ever Magpie Box for January.  And if you have read this far. . . a little giveaway:  leave a comment here between now and Monday the 29th at noon to win one of your own!  I will announce the winner on Monday night.

Re-purpose, re-make or simply collect.  What will you do with yours?

I am a Magpie! I collect, and many of what I collect are shiny. (BTW, it's "without further ado", not "adieu", which is French for "goodbye".

Oh my goodness Jenni! This new kit is filled with lots of beautiful finds, I love the name, and everything the "Magpie" Box represents! With my kit, I plan to use it both in my creative pieces as well as in sweet vignettes throughout my home. I met you at Vintage Market Days OKC, and you were just as charming in person as I imagined you would be. Thank you for continuing to share your classy style with the world! :)

I love of box of 'things' that I can stare at until the idea emerges of what it will become. Part of a book? An ornament, perhaps...

Inspiring! I have always loved and been drawn to anything "bird". I often describe myself as a mockingbird but magpie is fitting as well. I am already looking forward to each new box.

This is me!! Love finding treasures on walks in nature or at a Thrift store... What a cute idea! Thanks for the contest give-away and this inspiration!

"Magpie" is much lovely-er than "vintage hoarder", as my family refers to me!

Definitely a magpie, the shinnier the better! Love this idea!

When one of my daughters was in second grade, her class was named Team Magpie. Her teacher told them magpies are respectful birds and they were going to be respectful students. I guess that makes me a respectful hoarder, ooops, I mean collector. Best wishes for success with the Magpie Box, Jenni!

What a fun idea! Little (or big!) boxes of "goodies" are what I like to pick up at flea markets and auctions. Sometimes the pieces wind up in a glass bowl, and sometimes they become immediately repurposed. Anything handpicked by you will be....classic.

I like your idea and might order a one off kit but every month I would end up with too much stuff and not much space to display or store them. I am so sad you have ended the papercraft kits as that my way I like to create. I was enjoying them, great paper, lovely stencils and stamps with a touch of vintage. I am feeling very sad those kits with add ons have gone. They were a bit diffent to other kit companies.

Had a good laugh when I found my name on this post today, March 12th! I have been subscribing to The Magpie Box since January & have been utterly delighted with them. Have been working backwards on your blog for inspiration. I am participating in a design team challenge where we are each choosing a scrapbook celebrity that we have a crush on. You are my scrap crush, as much for your vintage vibe & creativity as for what a radiant person you are. You & your husband have always been such a pleasure to meet when shopping your booth at Novi Megameet.
