It's almost March - don't forget your green!!!

With the temps in February here in the south already in the 60's, we are definitely looking to Spring and not turning back!  Maybe this is why our March kits are full of muted colors - perfect for all of your Spring projects - on sale tonight at 12:00 midnight central time!

This month's Papercrafting Kit includes our new JBS Magpie collection and lots of well coordinated "treats" from some of my favorite companies.  Also . . . check out the exclusive clear stamp this month - a sweet stencil to match our new JBS Stencil Die Cut/Perfed Paper . . .

Megan has already created this collage style layout highlighting some amazing photos. . .

Our Artisan Add-On has even more fun details to add to your layouts. . .

The Antiquarian Add-On is full of vintage items that I have been hoarding for month's just for this kit and includes a small baggie of Kiwi Green German Glass Glitter - yum!!

Betsy has designed a Mini Album that you won't want to miss - housed inside our new JBS Mini Cigar Box (and the kit includes a downloadable printable journaling card set)!!! . . .

And finally, I have a very limited number (available on the first day to club member's first) of these sweet St. Patty's Day Vintage Crafting Kits.  Get them while you can!

On the table in my studio I have my first Mixed Media Project Kit almost complete for 1st quarter.  We will put these up on the 15th with all of our vintage/antique goodies.  Stay tuned!!

Just because . . .

It's been a long time since I created for no other reason than just to create - a really long time.

This is what I made . . .

The base is an old blotter (they were used to "blot" ink from fountain pens").  The wrapper was still on the package and when I took it off the color had changed underneath it  - I love surprises like that.  I chose one of my adopted little boys - a tin type sweetie with some pink in his cheeks for the focal point and I used an old business stamp (for tax returns - yuck!) under him.  Another fun tool I used that's been sitting on my desk for a while is an old metal notary seal.  I am planning another YouTube video this week and will show it on that (and I found some at the flea market this weekend and will put them up on the 15th of March at the site)! Here's a little detail shot . . .

Hoping to carve out some more time this week to create . . . just for the sake of creating.

Finding inspiration . . .

There's nothing like new finds to get the creative juices flowing.  Sometimes it's just the way things end up on the table as I unpack that provides the inspiration.  I love the simplicity of kraft and off-white together as in these old seed envelopes and pharmacy labels below.  I even love the subtle difference between white and cream - what could be simpler?

Now if I could just allow myself to act on that instinct when it arises?  To ignore the dishes, the email, the phone - order takeout.  Sometimes I am my own roadblock.  Sound familiar?

Another Class Update. . .

I've got a new peek at my 4th class for 2012, "Figuratively Speaking".  I love, love, love little details and this one has them in spades.  We will be using lots of inks and lots of punches and will complete a 12 x 12 layout, but you will have loads of stuff leftover to create a 2nd.

It also has a few pinwheels, a new obsession of mine.  I'm teaching this class at Donna's Studio in March as well as Mega Meet in MI.

And this is a new photo of my Pocket and Tag Album Class (I had to add a pinwheel to this one too)!!! . . . Teaching this one at Donna's and in Paris, France.

And the Cigar Box Mini Album Class (also at Donna's and in Paris).  Can't remember if I posted this or not. .

I am slowly trying to update my sidebar.  You will notice that I have added Petticoat Junction.  I enjoyed this intimate affair so much last year.  I teach 3 classes, all day on Saturday and we set up a small shop too.  The food "had me at hello" - Bonnie is a great cook!

I have been asked about Vintagefest alot lately and I have been promising to post something.  I had planned to do something this April but I just couldn't get it together, the way that I wanted to get it together!  So while I won't officially have the event this year, we will be doing the sale again in December and I will teach a class there this year.  I just wanted to let everyone know.  I'm hoping to get something good together for 2013.

Happy Saturday!

My alter ego . . .

So remember a few posts ago when I mentioned how the artist brain is shooting in all different directions!?!?  While I am passionate about papercrafting and product design I am equally passionate about decorating and collecting.  Somehow in the midst of everything else going on in the past several months, I was blessed to have had my kitchen photographed for the current issue of Southern Living magazine ...

AND I was also asked to contribute to an article for Country Living magazine on collecting, also on newstands now (more on that one later with a photo of my antique diplomas/class photos in action).  You will also notice in the issue of Country Living a photo of our Bingo Cards and a shot of our CL Fair booth (with the horse collection) in the ad for the Austin Fair.

Both magazines were a joy to work with and it was so cool to see my name in publications I have subscribed to for years.  I'm hoping this is just the tip of the iceburg!

Look for some class updates this weekend!!

New old stuff - tomorrow the 15th, 10:00 a.m.!!

Find all of these great items in the This Month's Finds section of the Flea Market . . .

Another great old catalog . . .

2 more old cameras (this one even comes with a case). . .

A new obsession of mine, antique leather coin purses (decided to share a few) . . .

An antique tooled leather gemtype album (empty).  I have a hoard of these to make things with (someday . . .)

Whimsical vintage German Scrap with glass glitter (these were in an Antiquarian kit a couple months ago).  I've been holding them until Magpie came out (which will be in the March kit) as these are the PERFECT complement to that line! . . .

A wonderful Victorian celluloid prayer book (Jared gave me one for Christmas - they are very beautiful and so sweet) . . .

Great old numbered laundry keys (you will see two versions, one with tags and one without) . . .

Vintage cloth tobacco bags with their original labels. . .

An old scrapbook full of clippings and German scrap. . .

A few more old wooden cigar boxes. . .

And so much more!

Planning to update you with more photos of my 2012 classes this week as well as some photos of recent finds from last weekend.  Still trying to catch up from CHA - getting there!

Updated photos for Mini Cigar Album Class. . .

I am still trying to finish up my projects for 2012 classes - one more to go!

In the meantime, here is a peek at the Cigar Box Mini Album class that I am teaching in March at Donna Downey's Studio and in Paris, France at the Version Scrap event.  I am in love with my new little cigar box, the Dictionary Frame Clear Stamp (which is part of the kit), and with my Blue Ribbon Fiskars punch that I used for the tabs on each album page!!

Thanks so much for all of the comments left on my last post. I truly appreciate it.

Want to know a secret?

I don't have everything together all the time.  It's true.  I said it out loud.

Truth is I doubt myself most of the time and struggle with anxiety.  I don't know how to relax, to trust, or just "be in the moment".

When I was in high school I got straight A's, was in every club I could be in, played basketball, softball, was a cheerleader and on the dance team.  I don't know how to commit to just one thing and perfect it.  I always feel left out.  It is a vicious cycle.  Is it the artist brain?  - one that triggers in so many directions but never truly commits?

Do you ever find yourself saying, "if I can just get through this. . .", but then "this" comes and goes and you are right back where you were?

I know I'm not alone. Many of you share the same struggles.   And even in the greater sense, I know I'm not alone and HE is always with me.  I need to remember that more.

I rarely use this blog to type anything personal -don't know why?  Maybe I need to do that more.  There is always comfort in knowing you are not the only one.

We had a great show.  So many wonderful people who support us.  I needed to see those faces and remind myself why I do what I do.  With owning your own business the risks are great - but the rewards are many.  Show is always a wonderful reminder of that.

I'm looking forward to this year and concentrating on what I do best (what is that exactly?) and finding a way to kick that self-doubter inside of me to the curb!

It's a little late for a New Year's Resolution but better late than never I suppose!

Hope the start to your week is great my friends!
