Previews!!

So if you have been around for a while (and I know there are many of you - I am so thankful!) you will remember that our second kit ever was themed "Mint Chocolate Chip". I still get e-mails about this kit (people looking for pieces and parts) so I thought it might be fun to re-visit that theme again!

And check out your new relative this month- I've named her Catherine in honor of my Grandma "Kitty". I think the empty chair opens up a TON of possibilities for fun additions, such as the button here:

And since we are hinting a little at the start of a new school year, the Add-On kit includes 2 extra large original flashcards (the large word cards have become almost impossible to get - it took me a while to get a box and alot of bucks!):

The project kit this month is a 4" circle mini album covered with the COOLEST lime green German Glass Glitter and features a reproduction 4" x 4" card of a class from the 1920's from my collection. I am going to take photos of the events at school this year and add them as I go. (then I won't be scrambling at the end of the year for a meaningful gift)! You could use yours to show class pictures over the years, etc. I think there are alot of options. See more photos at the site tomorrow night! Kit includes vintage Dennison stars, old Speller book pages and more!

Officially Set Up

I finally got everything set up (although it is ever-evolving) at the antique mall. It was fun, but exhausting to set up. If you are local, it is at The Antique Mall (used to be called the Hermitage Antique Mall) at the corner of Old Hickory Blvd. and Lebanon Road. You have to turn right onto Lebanon Road off of Old Hickory Blvd. but you make a pretty quick left (it is behind the hotel).

If you are attending Silver Bella, I will bring alot of the things you see here with me for the vendor sale!! There are still openings for this event (if you are into vintage you will NOT want to miss this - I'm really excited to be involved this year)! Contest Clarifications and e-mail address. . .

So first off, here is the e-mail address you need to send your submission to:

Please note that this e-mail is to only be used for submissions. Please do not send any e-mails to this address that would require a response. It will not be monitored in that way.

Include your two submissions as an attachment (JPEG), your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number.

You also must keep your total attachment to under 1MB.

We will attempt to send a generic response back that confirms receipt, but please note that this could take up to a week. Please check your junk folders for this response. We will not be able to answers any e-mails that request confirmation. We will also not respond as to your status in the contest. Final qualifiers will be contacted and winners will be announced here and via the JBS newsletter.

Okay, so here are a few questions I have received that I thought I would clarify:

- yes, you may use the Add-On kit if you happened to have purchased that (but it is not necessary).

- yes, you can use some digital elements as your "other 10%"

- only single pages for layouts (12 x 12 or 8 1/2 x 11), no double pages please (but if you happen to have done that already you will not be disqualified).

- yes, you can submit any layouts you are submitting for the contest for publication as well, before, during or after.

Please note that I really will not "disqualify" anyone. Things like "10%" are just guidelines to keep the playing field equal. I want to see what you can do with the concept of a "kit" so it is your best interest to follow the rules if that makes sense!

I also need to mention the following. . .

Please do not enter if you have other commitments that conflict with designing for the site, UNLESS you are willing to leave those commitment(s) if you should win. Basically, as I'm sure you would understand, I am doing this to find designer(s) ultimately, the prizes and money are just icing on the cake! I obviously don't want to have a grand prize winner who is unable to commit to the site/company. I should say, however, that I have no problem with my designers being one-time guests at other sites or creating for other industry companies. You will agree to forfeit any prizes should you win and are unable to perform the designer responsibilities.

Guest Designer Contest - here are the details:

- In order to submit you must complete at least one layout using the August Papercrafting Kit. You will also need to submit a second layout using the August Papercrafting Kit OR a home decor/altered art project. The sky's the limit on the 2nd project, just no cards please. You may use ink, paint, stencils, stamps, punches or any other tools to complete the project. You may also use a vintage item here and there but 90% of the layouts/projects must be from the Kit.

- Only 2 projects are to be submitted per person.

Here are the prizes!

1st Place - $500 cash. $250 in JBS product. Guest Designer spot one month at the site with the possibility for a more permanent presence at the site. Exposure on our blog and newsletter for the month.

2nd Place - $100 in JBS product and a Guest Designer spot one month at the site. Exposure on our blog and newsletter for the month.

3rd Place - $50 in JBS product. Exposure on our blog and newsletter for the month.

The contest ends on September 7th. The announcement will be made on October 1st.

We gave it a try. . .

Seems it would have been better for me to try a new feature during the day hours when my web support is in the office!

I couldn't even add the Hodge Podge Garland kit to the cart myself. I'm not sure what was wrong but it seems the "Members Only" feature was messing something up so for now it is just up for general sale. If you tried to order between 9:00 and 9:30 and would like the Hodge Podge Garland Kit please go in and order it now and we will refund you the extra shipping (send us a note please to jennibowlin@gmail.com).

Lots to share!!

As promised, here are the 2 kit releases for mid-month. Both will go up for sale tonight at 9:00 central time.

County Fair Memory Cards -

We have the most FABULOUS county fair in our county - the kind you might see in a movie, truly! We look forward to it every year. I found these wonderful popcorn bags a while ago and was waiting for the perfect project for them. I also had the cork backed Black Cherry Soda caps and some Mug Root Beer and Lipton Iced Tea pogs. Tis the season for County and State Fairs so I thought many of you might appreciate this! There are 3 cards, backs and fronts are decorated. Full instructions will be available in the gallery by Friday the 22nd. Check the site out tonight to see all of the photos.

Hodge Podge Garland- our first MEMBER'S ONLY Kit -

You may recognize this from the summer. This garland was part of a class I taught in Maryland and in Arizona when I traveled this summer. I had a few left to be put together and thought I would offer it on-line now. Lot's of old stuff here including a great old skeleton key, milk cap, old flash card, etc.

This kit will only be offered to kit club Member's for now. When this product is added to your cart, the cart will recognize whether you are a member or not.

If there are still kits left after 4 days, they will go up for sale to the general public as well.

This is a new program that will be available at least once a quarter for our member's.

And, if you missed the ice cream box Project Kit this month - hang tight! I will likely have a decent quantity more of these available on the 1st (I will keep you posted) as well as a new Green and Brown Version!

Quick Update!

Just wanted to post that all site orders that included Project Kit(s) will go out today!!

The gallery is partially up (will be loaded with the Guest Designer stuff by tomorrow)!

And. . . I will post hints here and send out a newsletter on Sunday about the Member's Only kit and the mid-month Vintage Kit (think County Fair!!) that will go up Monday evening. I will also have the info on the Guest Designer contest then as well. I realize Friday is technically the 15th but I am a running a little late this month!!!

Quick Shipping Update

Just a quick note to relay a notification of kit shipments for this month (please disregard if you are not a member or did not make a purchase this month).

All orders/memberships that include an August Project Kit will be shipped out a couple of days late due to a delay in our Crepe Paper Ribbon shipment.

All other orders/memberships will ship out tomorrow on schedule. This means all orders for August Papercrafting Kits, August Add-On Kits and all other site products that DO NOT also include the August Project Kit.

They really won't ship late enough that most people would notice, but I did want to give a head's up anyhow.

I have a big post planned for later this week with the details of the designer contest, the mid-month release information AND some pics of my 127 sale finds!! More soon!
